For the Love of Science

Created on Mar 19, 2018

Science is a process by which we test our ideas about the natural world, and revise those ideas accordingly based on the results we obtain. The tests, or the experiments, are the key to understanding Science. Science is the concerted human effort to understand, or to understand better, the history of the natural world and how the natural world works, with observable physical evidence as the basis of that understanding. Understand an overview of what Science is by going through this collection.

The intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behaviour of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment.

2

The Beauty Of Science!

Science has led us to finding out things that give us what we have today. In fact without science we would not have electricity which would mean no mobiles, internet, Facebook we would not have fridges to keep food fresh, television to entertain or even cars to travel in.

How simple ideas lead to Scientific Discoveries

Adam Savage walks through two spectacular examples of profound scientific discoveries that came from simple, creative methods anyone could have followed -- Eratosthenes' calculation of the Earth's circumference around 200 BC and Hippolyte Fizeau's measurement of the speed of light in 1849.

The Branches of Science

What in the world is Physics?

The effort to find the most fundamental description of the universe is a quest that has historically always been a big part of physics. Here an overview of what physics is presented.

Everything is Chemistry

Every material in existence is made up of matter — even our own bodies. Chemistry is involved in everything we do, from growing and cooking food to cleaning our homes and bodies to launching a space shuttle. Chemistry is one of the physical sciences that help us to describe and explain our world.

Introduction to Biology

DNA is like a computer program but far, far more advanced than any software ever created.

8

Why Mathematics?

Mathematics is the science that deals with the logic of shape, quantity and arrangement. Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including mobile devices, architecture (ancient and modern), art, money, engineering, and even sports.
