"A few people are afraid of good ideas, ideas that make a difference or contribute in some way. Good ideas bring change, that's frightening.ย But many people are petrified of bad ideas. Ideas that make us look stupid or waste time or money or create some sort of backlash.ย The problem is that you can't have good ideas unless you're willing to generate a lot of bad ones." - Seth Godin

One of the amazing things about the internet economy is how different the list of top internet properties today looks from the list ten years ago. ย It wasnโt as if those former top companies were complacent โ most of them acquired and built products like crazy to avoid being displaced.

Why do people think it's hard to come up with ideas for startups?
That might seem a stupid thing to ask. Why do they think it's hard? If people can't do it, then it is hard, at least for them. Right?

โThe only way a side project will work is if people give themselves permission to think simple, to change their minds, to fail โ basically, to not take them too seriously,โ says van Schneider. โWhen you treat something like itโs stupid, you have fun with it, you donโt put too much structure around it. You can enjoy different types of success.โ

โIโd love to start a company / become a great programmer / write an awesome blog, but thereโs just not enough time in the day!โ ย Bullshit.ย

What do others think of your ideas? Most of your friends will say it's good, not because it is, but probably because they don't want to discourage you. How do you get real feedback?

"Ideas are worth nothing unless executed. They are just a multiplier. Execution is worth millions"
๐ (http://www.vanschneider.com/igno...)
If we really believe in a new idea, we have to protect her with great effort. This is difficult, because oftentimes the greatest ideas get killed by the people around us. Executing on a great idea is by nature a lonely path. If everyone would agree with you, the idea is probably not that great anyway.
